New
activities from January 2007
Program
on rights to woman and children
LOSAUK working unit for rights to woman and children is made active at
slums of Khulna City Corporation, out skirts of Khulna city corporation
and near by upzillas.
Target groups are the neglected and disadvantaged children, adolescents
and young woman of aged between 14 to 40.
-
LOSAUK has so far developed 13 cultural squads out of targeted 25
since August 15, 2004. Cultural squads define like minded group with equal feeling,
taste and problem. They also want the same solution by recognizing their
problems. It is not absolutely a squad of music and theatre
activity. It is a squad (groups) who are organized for rights based
advocacy.
Programs are :

Exhibit the right based and issue based drama and render songs for
awareness
-
Impart training on human rights issues to network organizations.

Develop media campaign
-
Develop training materials and guidelines for the training group
-
Arrange round table talks on woman and children rights with all
professional woman groups, lawyers including elite and journalists.

Develop special squads
under this program are Hijra (eunuch), floating adolescent sex workers,
domestic woman & girl workers and
the disabled.

Awareness &
Advocacy through Theatre and Cultural Unit
(formation and development)
It is a process through which LOSAUK makes the formation and
development of culture and theatre groups for social mobilization and
transformation. LOSAUK uses folk tradition for social awareness and
advocacy. Target groups are women, children and all other community people as well
as societal people. This unit gives priority to the needs assessment of
the target groups.
LOSAUK develops issue based theme through culture & theatre
and implement through its core team. An
experienced trainer trains them. First they get oriented and secondly they
learn the process and apply it for implementation.

Raging songs sung by the disadvantaged women aged between 45 to 50
among rural & city dwellers and it is recently developed.

different type of process for social awareness program.

Newspaper theatre, forum and image theatre are the tools for advocacy

Pot drama (newly developed an art form: scroll drama, is applied for social education and
mass awareness).

Rights
based research & training
Program
LOSAUK unit of Research training, documentation and publication are held
both at Institute of Cultural Research and Laboratory Theatre.
LOSAUK believes in training. Before training, research is essential.
The following activities are undertaken under this unit are:

Research :
Research is an integral part of the project
development work. Research is conducted by an individual or by a group of
people. Field work is an important factor when an issue is raised locally
and nationally on which basis research is carried.
Training :
LOSAUK provides training on TFD (Theatre for
Development), TIE (Theatre in Education), Human Rights Education, main stream drama and theatre works, Training on evaluation,
environment, jatra (rural popular drama), woman & children rights
(i.e. child labor, combat child & woman trafficking, dowry, sexual abuse,
HIV/AIDS & STD, oppressions on women, corruption in local govt. initiative, good
governance, woman empowerment, domestic workers, floating adolescent girl
prostitutes, Hijra (Eunuch) community and indigenous culture & people.
Duration of agenda based training is designed for :
Local : 2 to 3 days
National : 5 to 7 days
Regional : 15 days
LOSAUK continues this special training program from 2005:
Target of this program is to create TFD facilitator on agenda basis (7
days theory and 7 day practical in the field).
Participants :
LOSAUK invites participants from Bangladesh, South Asia and South East Asia
for the program. It is a resident based training program and
certificates are given. Trained facilitators from UK Universities, Africa
and Bangladesh conduct this training program. Registration fees is US $
100
equivalent to Tk. 7000/- in local currency.
20 bursars are given on the basis of application and it covers course
fees, accommodation, food & training materials. Travel cost should be
borne by the participants. Those who are completely unable to bear
their travel expenses, a part cost may be shared but it should be limited
to some special cases (if
the fund is available).
Training on human rights education & advocacy:
This course is conducted by LOSAUK's own trainer for training and that
is imparted to local and national human rights educators & defenders. CBO and NGO activists are preferable for
this training. Net work organizations of LOSAUK are also preferable. 3 day
resident training programs on Human Rights Issues
are provided.
Training on Drama & theatre works:
2 day local training on DIE (Drama in Education) and TIE (Theatre in
education) are provided at free of cost to all cultural CBOs and local
theatre activists those who aspire to become the member of LOSAUK network.
It is taught how to use drama & theatre as a learning tool to use it
in a simple way for development. Every training is offered at the last
week of November. National and local participants are encouraged to apply by
third week of October every year. Total participants for all the training
programs are expected be, not more than 20.
